Mariachi Festival Announces Winners of 2025 National Youth Vocal Competition
Celebrating our Hispanic Culture
Houston, TX, June 29, 2025 – The Mariachi Festival 2025 is fast approaching and will be held from August 22–24, 2025, at the prestigious Wortham Theater in downtown Houston, Texas. This spectacular three-day cultural event is designed to unite music enthusiasts and families for a weekend of exceptional mariachi performances. A highlight of the program is the presentation of the winners from the youth vocalist competition.
The winners of the 2025 National Youth Mariachi Vocalist Competition have been selected. This year’s competition included four categories: elementary school, middle school, high school, and for the first time, college.
“This competition featured some of the finest mariachi vocalists, making the final selection incredibly challenging,” said Macaria Mendez, Mariachi Festival Board Chair. “This year’s winners showcase a wide spectrum of talent.”
Elementary School: Yamileth Arellano, 7 yr-old – Kearns, Utah
Middle School: Alexia Orta, 12 yr-old – Houston, Texas
High School: Zayden Longoria, 17 yr-old – Houston, Texas
College: Javier Pizarro, 18 yr-old – Oaxaca, Mexico
"Some young artists have natural talent, while others excel through passion and commitment to mariachi music," said judge Carlos Luna. "Their dedication and emotional connection with audiences set them apart. These four young mariachis have promising futures, and we’re proud to support their journey."
The winners will perform live at the Mariachi Festival on Sunday, August 24, accompanied by Mariachi Del Bosque, winners of the 2025 Houston Rodeo Mariachi Invitational.
