Oscar De La Rosa is the Tejano lead singer of the five-time Grammy Award-winning musical group La Mafia. La Mafia was founded in 1980 in Houston TX. La Mafia has performed in front of three record-setting crowds at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo at the Houston Astrodome. La Mafia has also played at the Houston Astrodome along with Emilio Navaira and Selena Quintanilla He is the leader of La Mafia alongside Armando Lichtenberger Jr.
So far they've had 37 albums from 1980 to current. Their best albums are The Magnificent 7 (1982), Neon Static (1985), Xplosiv (1989), Enter the Future (1990), Con Tanto Amor (1990), Vida (1994), Exitos en vivo (1995), En Tus Manos (1997), Inconfundible (2001), Eternamente Romanticos (2008),and Amor y Sexo (2014)
Mariachi 7 Leguas is a twelve-member group based in the Rio Grande Valley. The group was formed in 2005 by a well known, and highly respected, mariachi musician and leader in the mariachi music industry Emilio Santos, Jr. Group members include: Emmanuel Pena, Daniel Estrada, Joey Zamora, Joseph Padron, Aden Lopez, Alejandro Vasquez, Ruben De Los Santos, Antonio Delgadillo, Mario Gutierrez, Sebastian Macias, Genesis Leal, Caleb Arellano, and Emilio Santos.
The UTRGV Ballet Folklórico is a 50-member organization comprised of students who are pursuing
degrees in a variety of disciplines. The dance company was founded in 1970 by Dr. Amilda Thomas and
it is currently under the direction of Miguel Angel Peña. In 2006, the Ballet Folklórico was one of 100
outstanding Texas artists chosen for inclusion on the Texas Commission on the Arts Touring Roster
Program. The UTRGV Ballet Folklórico has toured throughout the United States and internationally.
Carolina Rodriguez was the winner of the FESTIBA Mariachi vocalist competition for the high school category. She recently graduated from La Grulla High School in La Grulla, Texas. She will be a student at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley this fall, where she will continue her studies as a mariachi.
